Aluminum Pergola Buying Guide: Profiles, Coating, Fasteners and Warranty

Compare the complete product configuration—not appearance or one headline specification—before ordering.

A reliable pergola is a coordinated system of profiles, connections, finishes, drainage and controls.
Short answerEvaluate the aluminum alloy and temper, profile cross-sections, dimensions, coating, connectors, supplied fasteners, drainage, motor controls and written warranty together with the finished size and installation type.

JIAKE manufactures and directly supplies aluminum pergola systems to homeowners, dealers, importers and contractors. Our factory team reviews the requested dimensions, installation type, options and project location before preparing a proposal.

What do 6063-T5 and 6063-T6 mean?

JIAKE uses 6063-T5/T6 aluminum according to the applicable product and component configuration. 6063 is widely used for architectural extrusions because it can form detailed profiles with clean finished surfaces. T5 and T6 identify different temper conditions.

The temper designation alone does not measure pergola quality. Buyers must also consider the cross-section, nominal wall thickness, internal cavities, component function, unsupported span, post and beam arrangement, connections and overall dimensions. T6 is not automatically right for every component, and T5 is not automatically inferior.

Why does the complete profile cross-section matter?

Profiles with similar outside dimensions can have different internal cavities, wall distribution and reinforcement. Posts transfer loads to the base, beams support the roof, louvers form the moving roof and guide water, and gutters collect runoff.

Common modules include 3 × 3, 3 × 4, 3 × 5, 3 × 6, 4 × 5, 4 × 6 and 5 × 6 metres. Other sizes can be customized after review. See our high-wind guide and snow-load guide for structural questions.

What should buyers check about the coating?

JIAKE aluminum pergolas use fluorocarbon coating technology and are available in multiple colours and textures. The finish provides strong resistance to corrosion, ageing and rust and has completed a 3,000-hour salt spray test, supporting long-term outdoor use.

Confirm the selected colour and texture in the quotation before production. Physical samples or colour references are useful because screens and lighting can alter appearance.

JIAKE Product Test Report ShowsJIAKE product test report (B)I2019-L-085 recorded 96% gloss retention and ΔEab 0.13 colour change after a 1,000-hour xenon-arc test of a RAL 7044 powder-coated aluminum sample. This result applies to the reported sample and test method.

Why do fasteners and connectors matter?

Beams, posts, roof components and accessories must be joined into one coordinated system. Depending on the configuration, this includes bolts, screws, internal connectors, corner connections, plates, motor brackets, louver hardware and base plates.

JIAKE supplies the specified connectors and hardware required to assemble the pergola. The components are matched to the confirmed product configuration to help customers complete installation accurately and correctly. Substituting critical hardware without confirmation can change fit or connection performance.

Product fasteners and foundation anchors are different

Product fasteners connect manufactured pergola components. Foundation anchors connect the completed pergola to its site. Anchor selection can depend on concrete condition, slab thickness, reinforcement, edge distances, base plates, pergola size and local structural requirements. JIAKE provides relevant product and base-plate information; the responsible local installer or project professional confirms the foundation and anchoring conditions.

Drainage is part of the product configuration

When a louvered roof closes, closely connected blades keep rain above the covered area. Water travels through louver channels, integrated gutters and designated drainage posts. Confirm the drainage-post locations, ground-level outlets, paving and water route before installation. Read our louvered pergola rain guide for the complete drainage explanation.

What should you check about motors and controls?

Confirm the number of motors, controller, roof operation, lighting controls, optional accessories and site electrical preparation before production. JIAKE can supply an optional combined wind and rain sensor. When wind or rain is detected, the roof louvers close automatically and compatible motorized windproof roller blinds lower automatically.

Motor, controller, sensor, lighting and roller-blind requirements should be confirmed as one coordinated product configuration.

How should you read an aluminum pergola warranty?

A warranty should identify both the period and the component. JIAKE's factory information states:

ComponentWarranty period
Main frame20 years
Coating20 years
Motor5 years

Before ordering, review the written warranty for the selected configuration, including the identified product, covered components, start date, installation and maintenance requirements, claim procedure, optional accessories and replacement-part arrangements. Keep the quotation, drawings, invoice, installation photos and product identification for after-sales support.

What documents should you request before ordering?

  • Confirmed quotation and product model
  • Overall dimensions and modular layout
  • Freestanding or wall-mounted configuration
  • Applicable profile, alloy and temper information
  • Colour and finish confirmation
  • Supplied hardware and base-plate details
  • Drainage-post arrangement
  • Motor, controller, sensor and enclosure options
  • Installation information and applicable test reports
  • Written warranty, packing and replacement-part information

For every test report, check the report number, testing organization, sample, dimensions, method, date and recorded result. Do not automatically apply one sample result to another model or size.

What should you send JIAKE?

Complete architectural drawings are not required for an initial enquiry. Send your country and city, approximate width/depth/height, installation type, application, quantity, site photos, preferred colour, roof type, sensor and blind requirements, other enclosures, lighting and target schedule.

What will you receive?

JIAKE can prepare an initial recommendation covering the model, dimensions, modular layout, applicable profiles, finish, supplied hardware, drainage arrangement, controls, optional accessories and available drawings and technical documents.

Frequently asked questions

Is 6063-T6 always better than 6063-T5?

Not automatically. The appropriate temper depends on the component, profile design and product configuration.

Does a larger aluminum profile always mean a stronger pergola?

No. External dimensions do not show internal geometry, wall distribution, unsupported span, connections or supports.

What surface finish does JIAKE use on its aluminum pergolas?

JIAKE aluminum pergolas use a fluorocarbon coating system in multiple colours and textures. It resists corrosion, ageing and rust and has completed a 3,000-hour salt spray test.

Are the required product fasteners included with the pergola?

Yes. JIAKE supplies the specified connectors and hardware matched to the confirmed configuration to help customers complete installation accurately.

What warranty does JIAKE provide?

JIAKE provides a 20-year warranty for the main frame and coating and a five-year warranty for the motor.

Can I request technical information before ordering?

Yes. Send your project dimensions, installation type, quantity and selected accessories for applicable product information.
